Gaspeite is a relatively rare mineral, found only in a few localities.  Its  green color is quite unique and very similar to the green turquoise found in Arizona.  It can be found in many fine pieces of indian jewelry.  Some pitting is almost always found as is the distinctive brownish patches and sometimes an iridescent calcite is in the stone.  My pictures do show the imperfections but you really can't see it's beauty until you have it in hand or in jewelry.

Most Gaspeite is stabilized because of its softness and a need to strengthen it for cutting.  If I can detect this was done I will identify the cabs.
