Bristlecone Pine Forest Oolite preformed slab

Origin: California

Colors: Green and mauve

Characteristics: Preformed unfinished rough slab, rare material from Bristlecone pine forests.  Cut for beautiful cabs or keep as a specimen.

Approx size: 1 3/4" x 1 5/8" x 50 mm. Weight: 21.8 grams

The makeup of this material are grains of sand or other sediment rolling around on an ancient sea floor gradually picking up layers of deposits that show up as spherical cross-sections, called oolites, and that's how this fascinating stone was formed.  This was found in the area where Bristlecone pine trees have grown on ancient sea beds.  The area is closed for collecting.

This slabs not like a normal rough slab, I've taken the time to remove all or most of the pits and fracture lines and then I used 180 or 325 diamond grit to shape the edges, and smooth the front and back to make it easier for you to finish.

I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K.  It's a daylight balanced pure white light.

Unless noted all my rough slabs are preformed with 180 or 325 diamond grit.

An 18 mm dime or 24mm quarter and 10 mm background squares in my pictures will help you with image sizing.
