Dryhead Agate rough slab

Origin: Montana, USA.
Characteristics: red and orange fortified, beautiful pattern, rare natural material from Montana, preformed to make it easier to create a cabochon.  Small ring size slab.

Dryhead Agate is found in southern Montana between the Big Horn and Pryor Mountain ranges and just to the west of the Bighorn River.  This site was a fee site until the 1990's when digging was discontinued because it didn't show profit.

Approx size : 18 x 24 x 5 mm, pear shape, Weight: 24 ct

First 2 pictures taken wet to bring out colors you may see after polishing. Remaining pictures taken dry to show imperfections if any.  If it is transparent the picture is taken with backlighting.  I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K.  It is a daylight balanced pure white light.

Slab was preformed by shaping the slab and sanding the front and back with  320 diamond grit, making it easy to finish as a cab or polish for a specimen.

I use a 24 mm coin and 10 mm squares in my pictures to help with image sizing.

Placing items in your cart:  Just a heads up, anyone can still purchase items you may have in your cart, placing items in a cart doesn't protect them from being purchased by someone else.

Finishing your slabs: Want to finish your slabs or create a cab and want to know a little more about that, my internet website Designsbyshirl has several blog posts on how to select rough and create a cabochon.
