Banded Coyamito Agate rough half cut, 67.2g, crystal center, 26+ bands (rc81991)
Coyamito banded half cut agate rough
Location: Chihuahua, Mexico. 1 expert said it was most likely Coyamito so that is what I'm sticking with until I hear different. I've seen one Coyamito example that has the same characteristics.
Colors: Brown, red, cream, gray, tan and splattered red dots throughout.
Characteristics: Banded agate specimen faced on one side. Purchased at an estate sale long ago, it was in their private collection. Outer skin is fantastic, naturally bleached by thousands of years of desert sun. The center is a naturally filled in crystal with some red dots. What a great specimen for the display cabinet, I sanded the face smooth with 325 grit, finish it for a one of a kind cabinet display or keep it natural, it shows well on its own. No fracture lines showing. I counted 26+ bands. The face can be polished on request, no extra charge.
The red dots are unique, I also see a couple of red bands trying to form and not making it. On the outer skin I see the red lines surrounding orb like formations.
On the internet I found similar agates from Chihuahua, Mexico but still not positive where it came from. One expert believes it's Coyamito. I'm still researching so my price can change when I find new info. If you can help identify this agate please let me know what you think. If you have another price in mind tell me what it is.

Preformed slabs: My slabs have all or most of the pits and open fractures removed to produce a more acceptable slab for you to finish. The edges, front and back have been smoothed.
Finishing purchased slabs: My recommendations are for you to start with 325 diamond grit, change to 220 if 325 is not removing grit lines, and finish with 600 grit before polishing. I have created several posts that show how I create cabs, see my website blog on Designsbyshirl.
I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K. It's a daylight balanced pure white light.
My first picture show item wet, this brings out the colors you should see in a finished product. Other pictures show items dry, this should show imperfections (small cracks or pits) if there are any. Contact us if you have any questions. Translucent items will have at least one picture taken with a backlight.
An 18 mm dime or 24mm quarter and 10 mm background squares in some pictures should help you with image sizing.
