Biggs picture jasper, rough slab
Origin: Oregon, USA
Characteristics: Biggs Picture Jasper, brown tones, rolling hills and dendrites. First 2 pictures taken wet to bring out the colors. Finish and use as a beautiful specimen or cut for cabochons.
This picture jasper was first found around 1960 at the bottom of a creek near Biggs Junction Oregon. More of the stone was found in the 1960s, particularly during road works in 1966 on U.S Route 97 when relocated through a canyon south of Biggs Junction. Road workers found the jasper in a rock cut, collected it and sold it to rock shops. Not much is being found today. It has become highly collectable and scarce.
Approx size: irregular 2" x 3 3/4" x 6 mm Weight: 42.3g
I use a 24 mm coin and 10 mm squares in my pictures to help with image sizing.
