Chrome Chalcedony slab for specimen or cabs

This material is a silicified rock only found on top of the ground in Australia, the main cause for being extremely rare. The chalcedony is a beautiful mottled emerald green with inclusions. The matrix also takes on the chrome chalcedony color. I've been told that this material can also be faceted.  Pitting can be seen in the light colored matrix.

Chrome chalcedony has been found in a number of places in Western Australia, this came from near the town of Newman which is approximately 700 miles north of the capital, Perth.

The geological setting of the area is that of an ultramafic intrusion into granite-greenstone of Archaean age. The intrusion consists of serpentinite that has also produced chrysoprase, chalcedony & common opal. These rock types along with the chrome chalcedony occur in the weathered, silicified cap rock. It's believed that original weathered serpentinite has been replaced through processes of silica deposition and the chrome chalcedony represents a whole-rock replacement or pseudomorph.

Chromium which is responsible for the green colouration of the chalcedony has originated from the existence of chromite within the serpentinite.

The extreme rarity is because it's found on the surface not under ground.  The Australians say it's also to expensive to locate because it's remote and there isn't any water in the area that it's found at.

Approx size: 6 x 4 1/2 " x 12 mm, weight: 10.8 ounces.

Preformed slabs:  I try and remove all or most of the pits and open fractures to give you a more acceptable slab.  I also try my best to smooth out all the edges and the front and back.

Finishing purchased slabs:  My recommendations are for you to start with 320 diamond grit and finish with 600 grit before polishing.  I have created several posts that show how I create cabs,  see my website blog on Designsbyshirl.

I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K.  It's a daylight balanced pure white light.

My first 2 pictures (front and back) show items wet, this brings out the colors you should see in a finished product.  Other pictures show items dry, this should show imperfections (small cracks or pits) if there are any.  Contact us if you have any questions.  Translucent items will have at least one picture taken with a backlight.

An 18 mm dime or 24mm quarter and 10 mm background squares in some pictures should help you with image sizing.

EBAY Customers: I create my items on Shopify and link them to eBay with a Pay Now option, that's why you can't request an invoice and I can't create an invoice for combining items.

100% money back return, you can return any item for any reason, buyer pays for return postage unless it's our fault.  See our return policy for more info.  You must contact us before returning any item.

Sales tax:   A lot of states now require marketplaces such as eBay to collect a sales tax, if your state has this tax law then it will be added on at checkout if you purchased your items through Ebay or Etsy.

Insurance:  Your package is insured if it is lost. We are not responsible if tracking shows it was delivered to your address..

Items in your cart: Placing items in a cart doesn't protect them from being purchased by someone else, try and make your purchase as soon as possible so this doesn't happen.  If you need extra time to make your purchase contact us and ask us to reserve your item(s) for a short period of time.
