Cobaltite natural native Silver Ore rough slab
Origin: Cobalt mine, Ontario, Canada
Characteristics: Silver ore (gray color unpolished), natural rare material. You can create a bright mirror shine with this material. See my last picture, it's a cab that I finished, in hand you would see the mirror shine, hard to get that in my picture.
Approx size: 22 x 25 x 3.5 mm, Weight: 11.6g (58 ct.).
This native ore is the rare material from the Cobalt Mine near Ontario, Canada. Make a cabochon and your jewelry will stand out, in the bright light the shine just pops out. It has a spider web appearance, it makes gorgeous jewelry.
The Cobalt silver rush of 1903 happened when huge veins of silver were discovered by railway workers. By 1905 a full-scale silver rush was underway, and the town of Cobalt, Ontario sprang up to serve as its hub. By 1908 Cobalt produced 9% of the world's silver. However, the ore ran out fairly rapidly, and most of the mines were closed by the 1930s. There were several small revivals, in World War II and again in the 1950s, but both petered out and today there is no active mining in the area. In total, the Cobalt area mines produced 460 million ounces of silver.

Preformed slabs: I try and remove all or most of the pits and open fractures to give you a more acceptable slab. I also try my best to smooth out all the edges and the front and back.
Finishing purchased slabs: My recommendations are for you to start with 320 diamond grit and finish with 600 grit before polishing. I have created several posts that show how I create cabs, see my website blog on Designsbyshirl.
I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K. It's a daylight balanced pure white light.
My first 2 pictures (front and back) show items wet, this brings out the colors you should see in a finished product. Other pictures show items dry, this should show imperfections (small cracks or pits) if there are any. Contact us if you have any questions. Translucent items will have at least one picture taken with a backlight.
An 18 mm dime or 24mm quarter and 10 mm background squares in some pictures should help you with image sizing.
EBAY Customers: I create my items on Shopify and link them to eBay with a Pay Now option, that's why you can't request an invoice and I can't create an invoice for combining items.
