Sugilite Designer Cabochon

Origin: South Africa.
Material: Purple and black Sugilite.
Characteristics: purple, black matrix,  unfinished preformed rough.  Nice burgundy purple.  Small fracture shows on the back.  Cut it in half by cutting off the black matrix and it would make a really nice purple sugilite ring or pendant.

Approx size:  15 x 41 x 6.2 mm, Weight: 56 ct

First 2 pictures taken wet to bring out colors you may see after polishing. Remaining pictures taken dry to show imperfections if any.  If it's transparent one picture is taken with backlighting.  I use a full spectrum 45 w light bulb - photography photo CFL 5500K.  It is a daylight balanced pure white light.

Slab was preformed by shaping the slab and sanding the front and back with 320 diamond grit, this should make it easier to cab.

I use a 24 mm coin and 10 mm squares in my pictures to help with image sizing.
